2 out of 5: Back then it was good, now it's just depressing!,

I started reading People magazine two years ago, and kind of liked what I read. Back then, their celebrity stories were either enjoyable or tolerable. Sometimes for their celebrity stories, they even featured intelligent, down-to earth celebrities. Also back then, all their world issue stories were different, and they weren't all about who got murdered by who. Now, however, most of their celebrity stories are about which celebrity is the richest or the most beautiful. I know that even two years ago they did an issue with the fifty most beautiful people, but back then, beautiful wasn't just about weight and looks. Sometimes it was about attitude, too. Now, their definition of beautiful is what celebrity is the thinnest or what celebrity is wearing the least amount of clothing. Now, their world issue stories are always about the same thing; who murdered who. While the stories make people alerted to what is going on in the world today, is it really necessary to include all the graphic details? Also in the  people magazine is a small section on fashion/beauty. Not surprisingly, for the clothing featured, it's being modelled by celebrities. I'm not a big fan of this section, but I give it credit because while some of the stuff is expensive, the whole section is a lighter read and not so depressing. The other section that is worth checking out is the comment section, where the readers send in their comments about the previous issue. Sometimes this section is so funny, it will actually make a person laugh. My final thought for people magazine is that it was wayyy better two years ago, and none of the stories are worth subscribing to this magazine, but the comment section is worth checking out sometimes.

For the price of a subscription to People magazine annually you could put a down payment on a car. Why is this the only magazine that doesn't have rate discounts? $120 for a year is ridiculous! That is almost as much as if you bought it in the store.

When People magazine first came out it was good......now all it contains is a bunch of pictures of anorexic stars, rich people, and criminals. It is so very, very boring.......no substance at all. And totally over priced!

PEOPLE is three things, human interest stories, celebrity gossip and reviews (don't forget the crossword puzzle) For light news try people magazine.

It's in your supermarkets, hair salons, doctor's offices. Your old aunt has it on her coffee table. It's People Magazine, and as dull as the magazine is, it is not going anywhere. Well, why not? Consider the person in a rural or suburban area: they are somewhat isolated; they do not have much contact with those around them. So what they do is they pick up a People Magazine. Contrary to popular belief, people (no pun intended) read People Magazine as a form of escape, not as a form of serious research on over-paid celebrities. Instead, it is a method of asking, "Is it possible for me to attain this level in my own life?" But I'd say the number one reason people read People Magazine is they want some negative information on a famous person to bring the star back down to the level of the person who is waiting in a long line in a supermarket checkout counter and just happens to see this superficial magazine urging them to touch and read it. Reach for the stars--the unattainable, elite, and arrogant ones at that.
